There she led efforts to build equity and inclusion across the organization. Leslie fights for social justice and equality with a focus on bias in technology and how people interact.
Our work starts with a key idea: everyone has bias. These biases can be conscious or unconscious. They come from our experiences, culture, and environment. No one is exempt. Not even your learning guides.
We practice regular self-reflection to spot personal biases and urge others to do the same. Ask yourself: How does my background shape my views? How does it affect my choices? Being aware helps us learn. It helps us grow.
AI tools reflect all the biases that exist in society. These biases often overlap. This is called intersectionality. You may have biases about women with low income. Or about native people with disabilities.
